Course objectives (competences):

After completing this course, students should be capable to:

• Development of skills for creative and analytical thinking for concrete problems facing the banking policy makers
• Understanding the basic concepts of banking
• Introduction to the contemporary achievements in banking theory
• Understanding the practical aspects of the banking management
• Introduction to the banking system of Macedonia

Course content:

The main goal for the course Banking is to provide students with in-depth knowledge for the institutional establishment and functioning of the banking sector. Within this framework, students should acquire knowledge about the Central bank role and tasks, characteristics of the banking systems in developed countries, developing countries and transition economies, development of the banking system in Macedonia, etc. Special attention is devoted to studying the functioning of the commercial banks with focus on all banking activities such as: active, passive, neutral and own banking activities.
