Upon completion of the course students should be able to:

• Understand the role of databases in enterprises;
• Understand the basic concepts of databases;
• Understand and apply the process of designing and creating a database;
• Use Microsoft Access as a tool for working with relational databases;
• Understand the implications of the Internet environment and web-based database applications.

Course content: 

• The place and role of databases in enterprises and e-business systems.
•  Database modeling. 
• Database design. 
• Entity-relationship diagrams. 
• Normalization of databases. 
• REA data model. 
• SQL. Design and create databases with Microsoft Access.
• Database search and report creation.
• Business intelligence and discovery of new knowledge.

For mastering the subject matter, the use of a specially equipped computer laboratory is provided and provided.
