Monetary Economics, Finances and Banking – one year

The postgraduate studies in Monetary economics, finance and banking are organized in two semesters, including the preparation of a master’s thesis.

The course structure is as follows:

  • Six elective courses from the list of Faculty of Economics – Skopje.
  • One elective course from the list of the University Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje.

The students have to choose 7 (seven) courses in total: 6 (six) courses from the study program and one course from the list set by University Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje.

In the first (winter) semester, the students have to choose 4 (four) courses from the study program and 1 (one) course from the list set by University Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje.

In the second (summer) semester, the students have to choose 2 (two) courses from the study program.

The studies are completed if the student accumulates at least 60 ECTS credits.

The number of regular teaching and mentoring classes is determined by the number of students enrolled.

Objectives

Educational objectives of postgraduate studies in Monetary economics, finance and banking are:

Learning the macroeconomic analyses for economic trends and movements and acquisition knowledge about work in field of macroeconomic policy;

Educating students for understanding and analyzing of international economic relations and the essence of international finance of business;

To be capable for financial institution management as well as securities analysis and portfolio management;

Issues analysis related to financial management, i.e. corporate finance;

Studying the problems in term of public finance in two subgroups: the first, fiscal policy (public revenue and public expenditure management) and the second, taxation, the structure of the tax system, the types of taxes and their characteristics.

Professional objectives of postgraduate studies in Monetary economics, finance and banking are:

Education of highly qualified professional staff with leadership abilities to work in financial institutions and non-financial institutions;

The study program focuses on the requirements of the private sector (banks, non-bank financial intermediaries and non-financial institutions with developed financial sectors), and on the other hand, the study program offers sophisticated theoretical and methodological tools for the needs of the research institutions and economic policymakers.

Further studies

Students can enroll in the third cycle of studies – doctoral studies.
