Course objectives (competences):

Upon completion of the course instruction and successful passing of the examination, students should be able to:

  • Prepare a tax return and analyze the income tax according to the requirements of the legislation of the Republic of Macedonia
  • Analyze and determine the tax on non-deductible expenses and withholding tax,
  • Understand and apply the concepts of taxation of income realized by individuals under the Personal income tax Law,
  • Prepare accounting records and tax returns for value added tax,
  • Analyze and determine the social contributions on wages applicable in the Republic of Macedonia;
  • Prepare appropriate accounting records for the transactions with corporate income tax, personal income tax, social contributions and other taxes in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Macedonia
  • Apply the concepts of tax planning and cost optimization for all taxes to businesses;
  • Analyze transfer pricing and tax aspects of transfer pricing in accordance with the tax legislation in the Republic of Macedonia
  • Calculate and analyze deferred taxes in accordance with the requirements of IAS 12 Income Taxes.

1. Overview of the tax system in the Republic of Macedonia
2. Taxation of the corporate profits in the Republic of Macedonia
3. Personal Income Tax
4. Withholding tax

5. Compulsory social security contributions
6. Taxation, accounting records and reporting on value added tax (VAT)

7. Taxes on property and excises

8. Tax planning
9. Determination and reporting of deferred tax under IAS 12 Income Taxes
10. Transfer pricing and tax aspects of transfer pricing
