Gorgi Gockov was born on 7.6.1973 in Valandovo. In 1997 he successfully completed his studies and graduated from the Faculty of Economics – Skopje in the Financial – Accounting Department. In June 2009 he successfully completed his postgraduate studies in the field of Monetary Economics and obtained a scientific title – Master of Economic Sciences in the field of Monetary Economics. The title of the master thesis was “Methodology for Monitoring and Analysis the Financial Flows in the Republic of Macedonia”. In December 2011 he successfully defended his doctoral dissertation entitled “Integrated Macroeconomic Accounts and the Case of the Republic of Macedonia” and earned his PhD in the field of Economics.
At the beginning of 1999 he was employed by the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia in the Research Department. In 2003 he worked at the Ministry of Finance as Head of the Sector for Macroeconomic and Development Policy of the National Economy. In 2004, with the reorganization of the National Bank, he became head of the newly established Department of Statistics. As a representative of the National Bank, from 2006-2009 he was a member of the Irving Fisher Committee for Central Bank Statistics within the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) in Basel and a member of the EUROSTAT Committee on Monetary, Balance of Payments and Financial Statistics within the European Commission. In the period 2007-2009 he was a member of the Council of the State Statistical Office.At the end of 2009 he was elected to the position of teaching assistant in a group of subjects in the field of finance at the Faculty of Economics in Skopje – University “Ss. Cyril and Methodius”. In December 2016 he was elected to the position of Associate Professor of Banking and Fiscal and Monetary Systems of the EU. He has participated in several seminars, trainings, courses, workshops and conferences in the field of macroeconomics and statistics organized by the International Monetary Fund, the European Central Bank, EUROSTAT and central banks of many developed countries. He is the author of several research papers in the field of macroeconomics and finance.
