Course objectives (competencies): Upon completion of teaching and passing this course, students should be able to: 

  • Know the standard microeconomic approaches: Pareto- optimality, external effects, willingness to pay, willingness to accept, transaction costs, etc. from the aspect of their application in the problems of environmental pollution;
  • To analyze the individual problems with environmental pollution from the aspect of their consequences on the national economy;
  • To evaluate the conditions in which the economic measures and instruments of the environmental protection policy can be applied, within a national economy;
  • To know and critically evaluate the systemic set-up and the manner of conducting the environmental protection policy in Macedonia.

  • Modern approaches in science related to environmental protection
  • Property rights, externalities and environmental issues
  • Environmental standards, taxes and exchange permits for pollution
  • Global environmental quality issues
  • Environmental protection in individual countries: international experiences
  • Environmental protection in Macedonia
