Course objectives (competences):
The objective of the course Business Logistics is to provide students with in-depth knowledge of business logistics and supply chain management and specific skills for applying this knowledge in practice. To achieve these goals, the course program will elaborate the theoretical aspects of business logistics and supply chain management, and then focus on their practical application. 

By adopting the knowledge of this course program, students will be able to:

  • Understand the conceptual meaning, meaning and content of business logistics and supply chain management;
  • Identify the key elements of supply chain management and their relationship to value added chains in production and value networks;
  • Exploit the potential of information systems to support supply chain management and value-added production chain;
  • Understand forecasting methods and apply them when forecasting demand;
  • Know and apply inventory management methods.

Course content:

The course Business Logistics concentrates on developing the necessary competences, such as the set of knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to perform activities in the area of supply chain management, such as: introduction to logistics/supply chain management;  logistics and supply chain strategy and planning; logistics/supply chain product; order management and logistics/supply chain customer service; logistics and supply chain information systems; demand management and forecasting; inventory management; procurement and supply management; transportation management; warehousing management; production management, impact of e-business on supply chain management.
