Important information

Dear visitor,

The contents of the new website of the Faculty of Economics – Skopje are being updated and due to that there may be some delays. The latest information about the study programme, based on the accreditation, can be obtained at the following LINK

Economic Sciences

The study program of Economic Sciences organized by the Faculty of Economics – Skopje is of third-cycle studies, doctoral studies, or level VIII according to the National Framework for Higher Education qualifications or level 8 according to the European Framework for Higher Education qualifications.

We live in a time of complete reaffirmation of economics, through its rethinking and remodeling. The globalization of the economic flows, the fundamental structural changes in the world economy, the financial crisis as well as the resulting recession – all played a major role in injecting new and fresh energy into the economic theory, the applied economic disciplines, and the empirical economic analyses.

The study program for the third cycle of studies in the field of Economic studies is an attempt to respond to the challenges that such fundamental changes in the global economy pose to the economic science, economic policies, and business policies of the economic organizations. Our study program covers three broader areas of economics: economics, finance, and marketing.

The disciplines arising from these three areas enables the students to acquire advanced knowledge and analytical-research skills on a wide range of economic issues and problems, such as microeconomic and macroeconomic analytical models, models of international economics, microeconomic regulation, and microeconomic regulation policies (monetary, fiscal, exchange rate policy, foreign trade policy). Furthermore, the areas of markets, institutions, and instruments that make up the financial system, public and corporate finance are studied throughout our doctorate studies. New theoretical and practical breakthroughs in the field of marketing, especially in connection with the revolution in the field of communications and behavioral analysis, as well as issues related to the economics of companies and their management in times of crisis are some of the potentially intriguing fields studied at the third-cycle Economic sciences studies at the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, Faculty of Economics – Skopje.

The doctoral study program in Economic sciences is organized following the rules of the European credit transfer system and aims at profiling staff for independent conduct of original scientific research. By gaining advanced theoretical-applied knowledge, students will be able to prepare complex economic analyzes and come up with proposals for effective solutions to economic problems, either at the level of economics as a whole or the level of individual economic sectors and individual companies. The developed autonomous research capacities of the doctoral students will contribute to building their further career in the business sector, non-financial and financial; then the sector of state institutions and public enterprises, as well as the sector of the academic institutions.

The study program in Economic sciences is organized for 3 academic years, i.e. 6 semesters.

Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, Faculty of Economics – Skopje and the Institute of Economics in Skopje.
