Irena Kikerkova, Ph. D. was elected a full-time professor at the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University, Faculty of Economics – Skopje in 2007. Her professional interest and research are focused on the international economics, international movement of capital in the form of FDI, World Trade Organization and trade liberalization and the processes of regional integration with special emphasis upon the European Union and CEFTA-2006.
Prof. Kikerkova is engaged in lecturing and examination on the first cycle of studies at the Department of International Trade.
On the second cycle of studies she participates in two programs:
Prof. Kikerkova is also engaged on the third cycle of studies on the doctoral program of economics.

During her professional carrier prof. Kikerkova has published about 80 articles as author and co-author, as well as three text books as author, three text books as co-author, three research monographs as co-author and was editor in chief of two international research monographs. All of her published texts are focused on the international economics, international trade and trade liberalization, regional integration and foreign direct investment.
In 2009, through signification of the MoU with the World Customs Organization from Brussels, Belgium and the International Network of Customs Universities – INCU, from Kanbera, Australia and in cooperation with the Customs Administration of the RN Macedonia, prof. Kikerkova participated in the establishment of the Regional Training Centre – World Customs Organization as an organizational unit of the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University, Faculty of Economics – Skopje. She is the actual director of this Centre at present.
Prof. Kikerkova is an elected member of the Assembly of the Economic Chamber of Macedonia for the period 2020-2025.
She successfully accomplished two mandates as a chief of the Department of International Trade and the Faculty Board in the period from 2011-2019.
